Rise of the Elements — Teamfight Tactics' Set 2 — will soon blast on the Convergence with a legion of changes. Riot had previously announced that we should expect some champion and item rotations, but there is more!
Indeed, Lead Designer RiotMort announced on Twitter a few days ago that boards will evolve to implement a new row! A tweak that might sound pointless, which is on the opposite completely game-changing.
Currently, there are three efficient ways to position your units:
- Packing them in the corner when playing against Knights and Shapeshifters
- Spacing them when you're facing Hextechs or Sorcerers
- Putting everyone in the back row when you're playing against Assassins
With this new row, we should expect the positioning meta to evolve — a lot. Also, RiotMort explained that this would be a permanent change, at least for Set 2.

The 10th anniversary evening of League of Legends was the scene of many announcements about all Riot Games games. Teamfight Tactics is not to be outdone and it has been officialized that a new set of champions and items will arrive on November 5th — called the Rise of the Elements.
The announcements came thick and fast during Riot Games' 10th anniversary event — and among them came the confirmation of the mobile port of Teamfight Tactics, coming in the first quarter of 2020.
