The first patch of Season 7 of Fortnite, 17.10, is here and it is bringing many changes. In addition to welcome weapon balances, we have new additions to the gameplay through things such as Abductors; and the ability to visit the Mothership.
There are plenty of new features which will change the shape of the game in this patch, bringing better mobility as well as new interactions.
Balancing
Nerfs
Lifetime of the Recon Bolts reduced to 10 seconds.
Charge time increased to 20 seconds.
Reduced rate of fire, bringing a larger window for counter-attacks to shoot them out of the sky.
New weapons

Magazine Size: Infinite (with cooldown)
Fire Rate: 15
Reload: 1.75 seconds
This weapon emits a constant stream of energy after a short charge-up period. The weapon has infinite ammo, but like the Minigun, requires a cooldown after being fired continuously.
Does knockback

Fire Rate: 0.8
Reload: 5 seconds.
Generate an Alien Biome in a large area for a short duration.
Max Stack: 2
Fire Rate: 1
A suit which gives players cow-like properties, such as being able to roll down hills, bounce off cliffs, and be impervious to fire.
Abductor Saucers
Abductors fly over certain places and simply stay put. After some time, they'll send beams to the ground and take those who decide to walk in them.
Inside the Mothership
Some players kidnapped by the Abductors claim they've been sent to the Mothership.
Once inside, some of the most powerful loot can be found, as well as orange orbs. Collecting these orbs extends the time on the Mothership, before players get sent back to the Island.
Players can see the locations of Abductors on the map, they visit in cycles so can be investigated thoroughly. There is, however, a limit on how many abductees can fit in an Abductor at once.
Alien Parasites
These can be found amongst the Island's ecosystem. Taking damage from Wildlife which has been Parasite-d will cause slime to gradually deplete the target's Health. When the host is killed, the Parasite will jump to the killer.
With the Parasite attached, players will be protected from headshot damage, and will be able to run faster and jump higher. In return, the Parasite will reduce the host to 60 Health (Shields remain unaffected).
Alien Parasites detach and ignore players for a few seconds if they touch fire, water, or enter a prop disguise.
Super Level Styles
Those who have reached Level 100 can look forward to new styles for the Battle Pass skins. Silver, Gold, and Prismatic pages have been added which include the new styles for Sunny, Guggimon, Zyg, Doctor Slone and Rick Sanchez.
Miscellaneous fixes
- Fixed an issue causing players to take damage through moving cars.
- Fixed an issue that temporarily disabled the ability to change loot pools in the Battle Lab. This ability has been re-enabled.
- Fixed an issue preventing Professor Slone's and Bunker Jonesy's entries from completing in the Character Collection Book.
Fortnite has issued an invitation to players to come celebrate Cosmic Summer, with new events and rewards over the next two weeks
