The Surge were in desperate need of a win against the Royal Ravens. On day two of the London Home Series, Josiah "Slacked" Berry disconnected from the match when the score was tied, ultimately leaving Seattle to finish the game a man down.
Despite the game being tied and everyone thinking a restart would take place, the game continued and London eventually went on to take the series 3-1, much to the dismay of the Seattle players.
Seattle star player Sam "Octane" Larew showed his anger at the decision by posting several tweets regarding the disconnection and the competitive integrity of the Call of Duty League since it has transitioned to an online format. The tweets have since been deleted but we managed to grab one of them which can be found below.
The controversial ending to the match marked the end of a miserable regular season for the Seattle Surge, who have secured the bottom seed for Championship Weekend.
What is strange about the matter is that there was no official explanation by the CDL, leaving a lot of players and fans to jump to their own conclusions. Regardless, this isn't the first time competitive integrity within the league has been bought into the spotlight and with the biggest tournament of the year being played online, it's likely that it won't be the last.
