Fortnite's top players competed in the FNCS Invitational. The $2 million prize pool certainly helped to bring them together through several tournaments in different parts of the world. It's a great way for them to show they're active on the professional gaming circuit.
The Asian competition has come to a sad end. Japanese player Sekosama, who won the Asia FNCS, was banned and then suspended for 14 days after cheating in final — although it was initially stipulated that the ban was permanent. In addition to this sanction, he also lost his $15,000 prize money.
Indeed, Epic Games found evidence that he had teaming with another player to help him win.
His "teammate" provided him with major items such as heal or shield, which he left in hidden places or brought directly to him, offering a "free" elimination and additional points at the same time. That's not all since another player would have caught them talking together and communicate during the game.
It didn't fall on deaf ears as it took Epic Games only a few hours to reach a verdict and ban the player. He defended himself by denying the allegations while asserting that he owed his victory to himself alone. Other players seem to agree, stating that they did hear him talking to another player but "not in-game".
In any case, the story was a happy one for the tournament's runner-up, Qjac, who quickly took first place to replace Sekosama.
The news created a storm in the Fortnite competitive scene. While Epic Games had promised changes to the controller aim assists that would logically be a nerf, it was finally a consistent buff of functionality that came out with v12.61.
