Seattle Home Series - Day 2 Recap

Day two of the Seattle Home Series was filled with plenty of action, including some surprising results and perhaps the end for one of the eight teams in attendance.

Find out everything that went down in our recap.

Chicago book place in semi-finals

After defeating the Paris Legion on day one, the Chicago Huntsmen found themselves against a strong Minnesota RØKKR roster in the opening game of the day. The Huntsmen kicked off proceedings with a 250-233 win on Azhir Cave Hardpoint to take the early lead. The RØKKR looked to bounce back on Gun Runner S&D, taking the game all the way down to a deciding 11th round, but it was Chicago that emerged the victors, securing a 2-0 lead.

With the momentum fully in their favour, Chicago secured the 3-0 sweep with a comfortable 176-123 win on Hackney Yard Domination to book their place in the knockout bracket.

Zer0 executes revenge on New York

New recruit Trei "Zer0" Morris had the chance to defeat his former team as the London Royal Ravens took on the New York Subliners in the second qualification game of the day.

Supreme slaying from Zer0 and Dylan "Dylan" Henderson saw London take Gun Runner Hardpoint 250-180 to take the early lead. The Subliners showed signs of a response but the Royal Ravens held strong on Gun Runner S&D 6-3 to take a commanding 2-0 series lead.

The new slaying partnership continued to shine on Gun Runner Domination, where London managed to secure the map 156-138 and a convincing 3-0 win, a stark contrast from their win against the Los Angeles Guerrillas on Friday.

OpTic continue fine form

The resurgence of OpTic Gaming Los Angeles has put several top teams on notice as the Green Wall looks to carve its way through the hectic mid-table battle. Standing in the way of a second consecutive Sunday appearance was the Paris Legion.

The Legion struck first, taking Azhir Cave Hardpoint 250-175 thanks to a dominant slaying performance from Luke "Louqa" Rigas. The Legion hoped to continue the hot start into Rammaza S&D but OGLA managed to reel off three quick rounds to assert their authority on game two. Paris managed to get a couple of rounds on the board but OGLA managed to secure the map 6-4 to level the series.

The frenetic nature of Hackney Yard Domination favoured the Green Wall despite the Legion showing their slaying capabilities in game one. OGLA secured a 170-143 win to move within one of securing the series.

Despite a late resurgence from the Legion, OGLA managed to hold onto the lead on Rammaza Hardpoint to wrap up the series 3-1 to advance to the final chance at qualification.

LA Guerrillas send Seattle packing

A narrow defeat to London on day one has lit a fire under the LA Guerrillas. Knowing that the Seattle Surge was in turmoil after substituting Casey "Pandur" Romano in place of Ian "Enable" Wyatt once again.

The Guerrillas could sense a potential victory and kicked off the game with a 250-217 win on Rammaza Hardpoint. The problems for the Surge continued as LA dominated Piccadilly S&D 6-1 to assert their authority over the Surge.

The Surge, despite the inter-team problems, managed to win Hackney Yard Domination thanks to some solid co-ordination that isn't often displayed by the team but the resurgence was too late as the Guerrillas immediately responded on Hackney Yard Hardpoint, taking it 250-165 and the series 3-1, eliminating Seattle from their own Home Series in convincing fashion.

OpTic avenge loss to Minnesota

In a thrilling five-game series, the Minnesota RØKKR and OpTic Gaming Los Angeles faced off each other once again, with the loser eliminated from the tournament.

The first game showed how evenly matched these two teams are, with OpTic Gaming taking Azhir Cave Hardpoint 250-241. There was no repeat of the 11 round thriller on Arklov Peak S&D as the Green Wall secured an impressive 6-2 win.

There was no way back for the RØKKR, as the Green Wall stood tall again, taking game three to secure the sweep, sending OpTic into CDL Sunday.

New York advance, LA Guerrillas defeated

The final match of the day saw New York and the LA Guerrillas do battle for the final space in the knockout bracket. A hotly contested Gun Runner Hardpoint went in favour of the Subliners but the Guerrillas answered right back with a 6-3 win on Arklov Peak S&D to level the playing field.

Both teams battled hard on Hackney Yard Domination with just nine points separating the two sides. It was New York that emerged victors as they took a 2-1 lead.

Heading onto St. Petrograd Hardpoint, New York kept the ball rolling on one of their favoured maps, taking it 250-187 to secure a 3-1 win and the final place in the bracket.
