Legends of Runeterra - LoR: Next update brings greater progress control

It's been several weeks since the open beta of Legends of Runeterra is in progress, and several updates have already taken place in the game, — notably to modify the balance, and allow to bring new life to the gaming experience. Riot has just announced that a big update will take place soon, focusing on the progression and the economy of the game. Many new features are to be expected, and we are tackling them right away!

Overall, Riot is quite happy with the progression system, as Andrew "Umbrage" Yip announced in his article on the state of the beta. However, certain aspects remained to be improved in order to achieve certain objectives for the developers, such as ensuring the evolution of the meta and developing the various means of investing time and money in play.

This is the main reason why, from the next patch, you will have more control over your progress . Among the changes you will find in particular:

  • A champion joker per week will be offered in the safe which can evolve endlessly.
  • There is no longer a daily XP limit
  • You can buy any card directly.

The goal is simple: to get you what you want, the way you want. The game still wants to remain competitive regardless of the amount of money spent, and these changes will make it easier for everyone to experience different cards. The deck construction time will also be faster and less variable while remaining accessible to all players.

Legends of Runeterra

Patch 0.9.3

Unlimited and improved chest rewards

  • From level 2 , the chests will contain shipping tokens (and no longer at level 10 as before).
  • From level 5 , the chests will contain champion cards (say goodbye to the unfortunate bad luck safes).
  • Chests of level 10 and above will contain a champion joker (to replace the random champion card of level 5).
  • From level 13 , unlock unlimited additional capsules, each containing at least 3 rare cards and 2 community cards, with a chance that they will evolve into an epic or champion capsule.

Earn unlimited XP

  • PVP wins for normal, ranked and expedition games will earn you at least 200 and 100 base XP, respectively, each time. You can play as much as you want!
  • Victories against AI will always earn you at least 50 XP.

Unlimited wildcard purchase

  • The weekly stock limit in the store is over.
  • From now on, you will be able to buy the cards directly from the Collection menu in exchange for coins (at the same price as the equivalent joker).

More accessible Shipping mode

  • The entry price will be 2000 fragments or 200 pieces . Between that and the tokens of the level 2 safe, fans of the Expeditions mode will be able to play it more easily for less. (To compensate, the rewards have been reduced and the guaranteed random champion has been transferred to the safe. In addition, you will be reimbursed for part of the value lost by the tokens you already have, and the expeditions started before the update will receive the rewards from the old system.)

The next expansion will not arrive immediately, but it will arrive well with a new region, planned later in the year. It will bring with it the following functionality:

  • XP levels multiplied in progression within regions. By unlocking these levels, you will increase the XP gained, which will speed up your progress during the first part of the route and allow those who return after a period of absence to quickly level up.

The above modifications (with the exception of multiplied XP levels) will be implemented on March 31 with patch 0.9.3. We warn you in advance because we too take evolution and the economy seriously. As in our previous progression articles, we want to be as transparent as possible and tell you about our larger goals. Riot Umbrage on the state of the beta

It's been just over a month since Legends of Runeterra went into open beta — the opportunity for Riot to share some thoughts on the state of the game, go over some remarks and talk about priorities for the year.
