Despite the quarantines and enforced staying at home, luckily we’re gamers — so that means we are used to keeping ourselves busy at home!
To help, here's a list of games we think are good for getting you through confinement.

New Games
We can’t think of a better time to expand your game list. You can pick up a bunch of recently released games that will probably take you a few hours to complete.
- Nioh 2: If you need something that will frustrate you more than isolation, Nioh 2 might keep you busy for a while.
- Ori and The Will of the Wisps: A Metroidvania that’ll give you a good dose of challenge and a beautiful scenery that's sure to take your mind off things.
- Dreams: A game creation system in which you can create games, or play games created by the community. Dreams have a ton of potential and will keep you busy for many hours.
- Black Mesa: The long awaited fan-made Half Life ‘remake’ will delight nostalgic fans of the legendary FPS.
And of course, two much-anticipated games will also be released during this period of confinement: DOOM Eternal and Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Both are excellent games that are sure to lift your mood, in diametrically opposite ways.
Online or Local Multiplayer
Playing with others is certainly one of the best ways to fight against loneliness. Luckily, there are tons of fun games to keep you busy with friends while respecting the social distancing.
Here's a list of games that we no longer have to present.They are all playable in online multiplayer or in local co-op/splitscreen for those who are confined with their families, partners or roommates.
MOBAs
- League of Legends
- Smite
- Dota 2
- Paladins
There are many other games of this style of course, and even those that are less popular will certainly see their audience increase with all these players confined to their homes.
MMOs
- World of Warcraft
- WoW Classic
- Final Fantasy XIV
- Monster Hunter World: Iceborne
Like MOBAs, there are many other games of this type. You can always rely on MMOs to help you kill a lot of time while having fun with your friends.
Battle Royale
- Fortnite Battle Royale
- Apex Legends
- Hunt: Showdown
While there's no need to introduce Fortnite and Apex, you may not be familiar with Hunt: Showdown. Without saying too much, Hunt: Showdown is a FPS with PvE and PvP elements. Some might not consider it a battle royale per se, but it makes the list anyway!
Party Games
- The Jackbox Party Pack series: Up to 8 players, but funnier with at least 4 players. If you're a streamer, some games can be played with viewers, too!
- The Worms series: Up to 6 players.
- Overcooked 1 and 2: Up to 4 players. Some levels are really difficult if not impossible with only 2 players.
- Unrailed!: Up to 4 players. Unrailed is an amazing game, even with only 2 players. It's still in Early Access.
- Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes: 2 players or more.
- Town of Salem: relive the classic Werewolf/Mafia game online!
These games can make you have a wonderful evening with friends, or destroy your relationships. Either way, at least you won't think about coronavirus, that's guaranteed.
Sports games
- Fifa 20
- NBA 2K20
- Rocket League
You can't do much physical activity indoors, but you can always count on sports games to keep you in motion!
Big, Time-Consuming Games
- The Witcher III: Wild Hunt
- No Man’s Sky
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
- Red Dead Redemption 2
With these games you won't even notice the time go by, and yet you can easily spend many hundreds of hours playing them. They're also a great way to travel and explore new worlds!
Chill Games
- Stardew Valley
- Firewatch
- Journey
- Gris
- House Flipper (and other simulation games)
- Kingdom: Two Crowns
There's nothing like exploring nature, or traveling to other wonderful worlds peacefully, to take a breath of fresh air and your mind off things. These are the games you need to play in order to relax and to focus on yourself.
Take a deep breath and plant a potato, you'll see.
