LoL: LCK returns on March 25

Update — March 19

We've known about this for several days now and it's now official. The LCK will be back on Wednesday, March 25 for the second half of the Spring Split.

[2020 LCK Spring Round 2 Schedule] 2020 LCK Spring Round 2 will resume from 3/25 Wednesday. All matches will be played online and if the previous match ends early, it will continue as soon as the preparation for the next match ends without waiting time. The postseason schedule will be released later.

Like the LPL, the LCK will adopt a condensed format with three Bo3 per day. The matches will of course be played online and will follow one another without waiting time. Once one Bo finishes, the next will follow as quickly as possible. The playoff schedule will be announced shortly.

The LCK of League of Legends has been at a standstill for more than two weeks now, as have most of the leagues around the world. Only the LPL remains in terms of major league, LPL which is currently playing its third week of competition online.

While yesterday it was reported that Korean league officials were considering all possibilities to ensure a resumption of the league, sources close to ESPN say that it could be as early as the end of March.

Coronavirus: Towards an online championship for the LCK?

While the LCK has been on a forced two-week break due to the Coronavirus pandemic, we learn today that the championship could resume with a 100% online format, like the LPL.

Riot Games and LCK officials would have discussed the possibility of a return of the championship to Seoul's LoL Park, without an audience of course, but the most likely hypothesis, and the safest from a health point of view, would be to opt for a 100% online format, similar to the LPL. A more sustained rhythm of matches will undoubtedly be envisaged to make up for the accumulated backlog. Spring Split stopped at the end of the fifth week of competition, which corresponds to half of the regular season.

This is a good omen if it is confirmed and should delight all the fans who have been in need of entertainment since the beginning of this global health crisis.
