Borderlands 3 also includes a Golden Key system, which will allow you to start the adventure with a definite advantage. These special keys allow you to open a specific chest in Sanctuary 3, and discover some exotic or legendary-quality equipment.
After a few hours of play, it is quite easy to make sure you have a few pieces of purple or orange gear at your level.

Obtaining Golden Keys with SHiFT codes
- To enter the codes you will find on the net, simply go to this page and register using the account IDs corresponding to your platform (PSN for PS4, Xbox Live for Xbox One, Epic Account for PC).
- You can also create your SHiFT account directly in the game menus, which will save you time. Press pause, then go to the Social tab, then SHiFT.
- Once the accounts are linked, all you have to do is find codes on the net and enter them in the corresponding field. Often these are limited in number and time, so be quick!

Be careful!
- When the chest is open, it distributes equipment that matches your current level: if you really want great rewards, hold onto your Golden Keys and come back when you are a high level — this will be much more profitable.
- Don't confuse SHiFT codes with the VIP reward system. To identify those that will give you access to Golden Keys, locate only the 5-by-5 codes. The others concern VIP points.
