World of Warcraft: Classic guide to the Druid class. We take a look at all 3 specs, from healing in Restoration to DPSing in Balance and Feral — and we'll even throw in tanking with Feral as well. We give you an overview below.

WoW Classic: Druid Class Guide

The Druid — the jack-of-all-trades-master-of-few class in WoW Classic. The Druid is the pure hybrid class in Classic, able to heal with Restoration, DPS with Balance and Feral and even tank as Feral, kind of. Plus, their travel form at level 20 (unlock via a quest) is handy to speed up levelling between 20-40.

Druid

Like most classes that can heal in Classic, you will find a lot of groups asking you to fill that role. Balance and Feral (Cat) are both valid specs and have a lot of use in solo content, with Feral having slightly more use in PvP. The tank spec of the class, Feral (Bear), is nothing like it is at any point after Classic.

Available to: Night Elf, Tauren
Type: Healer, Melee & Range DPS, Tank
Standard Bars: Health/Mana, Energy/Combo, Rage
Available Armor: Cloth, Leather
Available Weapons: Staff, One-Handed Mace, Dagger, Fist Weapon, Polearms

Restoration

Like most classes in Classic, if you can heal, you'll probably be asked to heal. The spec is certainly unique compared to most other healers, with the Druid relying mostly on HoTs (Heal-over-Time) — even their main normal heal, Regrowth, has a HoT attached to it. The main drawback to the Druid both is the limited number of buffs a person can have at once and Druid HoTs being unique — meaning that while most guilds will have a Druid healer, they probably won't have too many.

Feral (Cat)

Feral (Cat) — or Feral Combat, as it's known in the spec tree — is the Druid's melee damage spec. It will be the go-to damage spec for Druid, as it excels in PvP, solo content and end-game PvE. Leader of the Pack is also a nice party buff that will see Feral make its way into a few melee groups in raids.

Balance

Balance is the Druid's ranged magic-damage spec. While it's not a terrible spec, it will only have limited use in end-game content. Moonkin Form is probably the most notable part of the spec, because not only is it key to the spec doing damage, but it's also one of the most "unique" looking things in Classic WoW — having months of hard work in armour acquisition covered up by an oversized chicken is less than ideal!

Feral (Bear)

Feral (Bear) is a bit of a joke spec when it comes to Classic. It only really became relevant in the game's first expansion, The Burning Crusade. The role isn't completely useless, and you will find play with it. However, you will find long-term survivability hard, with only one real defensive cooldown in Barkskin, and with it not being castable in Bear form... it might end up getting you killed rather than saving you.

Druid Abilities in Classic

Main Abilities

Swiftmend

Consumes a Rejuvenation or Regrowth effect on a friendly target to instantly heal them for an amount equal to 12 sec. of Rejuvenation or 18 sec. of Regrowth.

The final talent in the Restoration tree, Swiftmend is an important heal for burst healing. It works slightly differently to how it does in live WoW, which is something to remember. Regardless, this is a key heal.

Mark of the Wild

Increases the friendly target's armor by 285, all attributes by 12 and all resistances by 20 for 30 min.

One of the many buffs in WoW Classic, Mark of the Wild is great as an overall buff. It will be required that a raid has at least one Druid — if not more — to make sure this buff is up on the raid at all times.

Teleport: Moonglade

Teleports the caster to the Moonglade.

While it might seem trivial, teleporting to Moonglade can have a lot of benefits at max level. Acting as a second Hearthstone, Moonglade can be a useful location in Classic, especially with how world travel worked.

Rebirth

Returns the spirit to the body, restoring a dead target to life with 400 health and 700 mana.

Rebirth is the in-combat revive. While Druid lacks a standard revive spell, Rebirth can be a game-changer in 5-man content and world PvP.

Best Druid Professions in Classic

Best for gearing

Best for making money

Leatherworking + Skinning - It's nice to be able to make gear out of all the mobs you kill, so we think this is the safest option for Druid — especially if you intend to do a lot of solo content.

Alchemy + Herbalism - The best combination if you want to make gold by selling potions and herbs, or just want to save some gold by making your own potions.
