Pokemon GO: Best Ultra League Pokemon teams

While competitive battles have been part of Pokémon GO since January, players can now compete against other Trainers from around the world in order to win rewards and increase their Rank. Competitive seasons are composed of the Great League, Master League, and Ultra League.

In this guide, you will find the best teams to use in the Ultra League, based on winrate and usage rate obtained from Sylph.gg.

The highest pick rate and win rate for the Ultra League

This is the trio with the current most wins.

Giratina (Altered Forme)

Fast Move: Shadow Claw

Charged Moves: Dragon Claw and Ancient Power

Mew

Fast Move: Shadow Claw

Charged Moves: Overheat and Psyshock

Suicune

Fast Move: Snarl

Charged Moves: Ice Beam and Hydro Pump

Giratina (Altered Forme) and Mew are currently in the majority of winning compositions. You can replace Suicune with any of the following:

  • Cresselia
  • Deoxys (Defense Forme)
  • Alolan Muk
  • Dragonite
  • Registeel
  • Gallade
  • Jirachi
  • Lugia
  • Articuno

All of these Pokémon are included in our tier list of the best Pokémon to use in the Ultra League.

Pokémon GO: Ultra League tier list

The new Ultra League is now live in Pokémon GO, but players should be prepared for a challenge. To help you, we've put together a tier list of the Pokémon best suited for competitive play.

Teams without Legendary Pokémon

If you don't have Legendary Pokémon such as Giratina, Suicune or Mew, here are some teams you can build for the Ultra League without them.

You can find a ranking of the best Pokémon on pvpoke.com.

The Starter Team

While Legendaries are very high in the ranking, starters are not bad either! Their second charged moves — unlocked with Stardust and Candy — inflict huge damage, so a team of three starters is more than viable.

To cover as many type weaknesses as possible, we advise you to take one starter of each type:

Swampert

Fast Move: Mud Shot

Charged Moves: Hydro Cannon and Earthquake

Charizard

Fast Move: Fire Spin

Charged Moves: Blast Burn and Dragon Claw

Venusaur

Fast Move: Vine Whip

Charged Moves: Frenzy Plant and Sludge Bomb

Other starters are very strong include Typhlosion, Meganium and Blaziken.

The comp that breaks everything

Machamp is one of the strongest (and most accessible) Pokémon. Here's a team you might like:

Machamp

Fast Move: Counter

Charged Moves: Cross Chop and Rock Slide

Snorlax

Fast Move: Lick

Charged Moves: Body Slam and Earthquake

Lapras

Fast Moves: Ice Shard

Charged Moves: Surf and Ice Beam

You can also pair Machamp with Charizard.

Cute Team

Togekiss also happens to be one of the best Pokémon to use in the Ultra League.

Togekiss

Fast Move: Charm

Charged Moves: Ancient Power and Flamethrower

Dragonite

Fast Move: Dragon Breath

Charged Moves: Dragon Claw and Outrage

Alolan Muk

Fast Move: Snarl

Charged Moves: Dark Pulse and Gunk Shot

Hopefully, these team ideas will help you win big in the Ultra League — feel free to tell us your ideal compositions in the comments!
